Michael Karbo

Managing Partner

Michael Karbo was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up in Blaine, Minnesota and moved with his family to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He graduated from Washington High School in 1988. He was a 1992 graduate of the University of Minnesota. After graduation he joined Clausen Funeral Home, where he is currently the managing partner. He is a licensed funeral director in Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota.

Michael's family includes his wife, Susie; daughter, Hannah; and son, Brock.

Michael is a member of the United Methodist Church in Burke. He is a past member of the Burke Golf Course Board of Directors, he serves on the Community Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, he is an officer with the Burke Volunteer Fire Department, is a volunteer varsity football coach and serves on the church's finance committee.

Justin Nelson

Funeral Director

Justin Nelson was born and raised in Burke, SD. Justin graduated from Burke High School in 2003 and graduated with his mortuary science degree in 2009. After graduation he joined Mason Funeral Home where he is a licensed funeral director.

Justin’s family includes his wife Katlyn and two sons; Pierce and Porter.

Justin is a member of the United Methodist Church in Winner. He is a member of the Winner Rotary Club, the Rosebud Rod, Arrow, and Gun Club, a Junior Achievement Volunteer, and a Little League Baseball coach.

David Engelmeyer

Funeral Assistant

David joined the staff at Clausen Funeral Home in the early 1990s. He has served as a funeral assistant since that time. A lifelong member of the Burke area, he brings a hometown touch to the families that we serve.

Susie Karbo

Staff

Susie grew up near Hawarden, Iowa and graduated from West Sioux High School in Hawarden. She later graduated from the University of South Dakota. She currently teaches fifth grade at Burke Elementary as well as working with the funeral home.
