Yvonne Bonnie Cahoy was born January 8th 1933 to Grant Robert and Ethie (Woods) Reber in Naper, NE. She died January 6th 2010 at the Lake Andes Health Care Center in Lake Andes, SD at the age of 76 years.
Bonnie grew up on a farm west of Naper, NE, along with her younger sister Karen. She attended a rural school and graduated from the 12th grade in Naper, NE. After graduation she worked in the Burke Hospital until after she was married.
On November 24th, 1951 she was united in marriage to Robert Bob Cahoy in Naper, NE. Bonnie joined Bob in Arlington, VA during his tour of duty in the Army. After returning from the Army they resided on a farm south of St. Charles, SD and raised their three children David, Deb, and Steve. They farmed until her husbands death in 1986, and she then moved and retired in Bonesteel, SD.
Bonnie was a loving mother and grandmother spending and devoting many hours with her family. She loved attending her grandchildren social and school activities along with spending time at the river, fishing and boating with family and friends. Bonnie also enjoyed the birthday and social outings with her girlfriends. You could always find Bonnie helping at her sons store and volunteering with the Dakota Senior Meals Program. Bonnie said She was so blessed to be able to spend time with her two great-grandchildren.
Bonnie died peacefully on January 6, 2010 with her children by her side at the Lake Andes Health Care Center.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, and infant niece.
Bonnie is survived by her two children, her daughter Deb, her son Steve and wife Kathy. Her five grandchildren Pamela and husband Cody Spann, Paul, Daniel, Beverly, and David Cahoy and great-grandchildren Christina and Sarah Spann. Her sister Karen and husband Larry Juracek and their children Cheryl, Clayton, and Cody. Her sister- in-law Darlene and husband Gene Pibal and child Candace.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bonesteel. Burial will be in the St. Anthonys Catholic Cemetery, Fairfax, SD. There will be a rosary on Monday at 7 PM at the church in Bonesteel. Visitation will be prior to both of the service at the church.
