Winona Udela Neilan was born February 23, 1922 at Hoisington, Kansas and she died November 24, 2007 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 1 day.
Winona was the third child born to Wallace and Cecil (Wilson) Cody. Her father died in 1927, and, due to hard times, the children were placed in the Colorado State Home for Dependent and Neglected Children. In 1931, Nonie and her sister, Jean Anne, were taken out of the home. Jean Anne was adopted and Nonie was taken to be a household attendant by the Moore House family in Benkelman, Nebraska
Nonie attended schools in the Benkelman, Nebraska and St. Francis, Kansas areas. On January 21, 1941, Nonie was united in marriage to Melvin Neilan in Benkelman, Nebraska. They stayed on the Moore House farm until 1946. In 1946 they moved Bonesteel, South Dakota where she worked various jobs. In 1975 Nonie, along with her husband, Melvin and several other individuals, started the Over 50 Club in Bonesteel. Nonie enjoyed her time at the Over 50 Club, serving in several capacities, primarily as a cook, up until her time of death.
Nonie is survived by her two sisters: Lucille Crow of Lake Kiona, TX and Jean Anne Richards of Benkelman, NE; one brother, Orville Cody of Eagle, ID; as well as several nieces, nephews; and one sister-in-law, June (Neilan) Nelson.
Nonie was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her parents; two sisters and one brother. She will be missed , but remembered by all.

in Bonesteel, South Dakota.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Bible Church in Bonesteel. Burial will be in the Rosebud Cemetery, Bonesteel. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM, at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke.
