IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wes
Andrews
November 29, 1968 – December 10, 2022
Wesley Gaylord Andrews was born on November 29, 1968, in Wagner, SD to Caroline Andrews. Wes started his spiritual journey at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls on December 11, 2022.
At the time Caroline was waiting for the arrival of her baby, her sister-in-law Helen Andrews was in the Burke Hospital awaiting the arrival of her baby. Caroline had nurses call numerous times if Helen had given birth, at her last call she was informed she became an aunt to niece Karla Andrews Kirkpatrick – 20 minutes later a nurse called from Wagner to inform Helen that Caroline gave birth to Wesley. Day after Thanksgiving we were blessed with 2 little blessings.
Wesley spent his childhood around Bonesteel and Milks camp. He spent his childhood with his mom and Aunt Donna Bearer. Wesley became close to all families in the community. He was an example of what our ancestors believed "a child is raised by the community".
Wesley attended Milks Camp head start. He attended grade school 1-8 th grade and high school at Bonesteel Public School. He graduated from BHS in May 1988. He also attended some college in Mitchell. Wes worked for Divines in Bonesteel for 25 years. He also worked for AJ for 3 years. At the time of his passing Wes was currently employed by SWA Rosebud Sioux Tribe.
Wesley's most favorite part time activity was playing softball. He played 25 years with the Mad Dogs and after his cousin Kevin Andrewes passed he started his team Vegas Boys in honor of Kevin. He was always proud of his boys win or lose. During his time playing with Mad Dogs he became hunka (adopted) brothers with the Chasing Hawk boys – Glen, Speedy, Lil Todd and Dean, Sister Bev. We became very close to his ball team members as family.
In the Summer of 2010, his health was becoming an issue with his heart. He was referred to Rochester for further testing. His Uncle Jesse and Aunt Helen made sure he made his appointment. His Uncle Jesse and Wes made numerous trips to Rochester- they would come home teasing abo9ut how much eggs Uncle Jesse would eat at Denny's and how much McNuggets Wes would eat at McDonalds.
In 1993 Wes met Tiffany Ferneau- to this relationship 2 children were born. Lonna Mae and Owen Joshua. In 2005 he met Jill Shipman to this relationship 3 children were born- Hayden, Cayson, Noah (deceased as infant)
In 2015 he met his fiancé Drew Harrold and accepted her son Elijah as his own.
