Obituary

Wayne Harold Faatz was born September 24, 1936 on a farm north of Butte, Nebraska to Albert and Louise (Gall) Faatz. He died July 4, 2006 at the Winner Regional Hospital in Winner, South Dakota at the age of 69 years, 9 months and 10 days.

Wayne graduated from Naper High School in 1955. He chose to farm right out of high school and was a member of the Army National guard from 1957 until 1961, serving as a cook.

Wayne was united in marriage to Marilyn Kaye Ott on January 18, 1959 at Naper, Nebraska. To this union six children were born. The couple lived on various farms near Butte, Naper and Orchard, Nebraska until 1970. At which time they moved to the Fred Ott farm outside of Bonesteel where they farmed until 1988. He retired to his home in Bonesteel in 1993.

Wayne was best remembered for his mechanical skills, farming, welding and carpentry work. He was best known to be a jack-of-all trades and willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His hobbies consisted of fishing, playing checkers, and playing cards, especially cribbage and pinochle. He was also known for his green thumb at growing watermelons and muskmelons. He was a member of the Colome American Legion. In his younger years he enjoyed going to community dances and enjoyed listening to polka and waltz music. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his family and doing circle word puzzles.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Marvin and Earl; and his sister Loretta. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his sister Grace and husband Herman Bendig of Naper, NE; his son Harold and wife Mary of Rapid City, SD; son Allen and wife Terri of Bonesteel, SD; son Steve and wife Denise of Bonesteel, SD; son Clinton and fianc Samantha of Rapid City, SD; daughter Linda of Rapid City, SD; daughter Susan and husband Brian Bennett of Rapid City, SD; 18 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 7 nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends. He will be missed greatly by all who truly knew him.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the United Church of Christ in Naper, NE. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Fairfax. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 PM, with a 7 PM prayer service, at Clausen Funeral Home, in Burke.
