Wayne Allen Baldwin was born July 8, 1931 at Bonesteel, South Dakota to Rubin and Frieda (Schroeder) Baldwin and he died February 20, 2007 at the home of Brion and Kristen Paulson in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 12 days.

Wayne attended twelve years of school at Bonesteel Public, graduating in 1949. He was called to serve his country from 1953 to 1955, serving in Frankfurt, Germany as an assistant gunner in Battery C with the 816th Field Artillery Battalion, with the rank of Sergeant. After his discharge he returned to the family farm where he resided his entire life. Farming and cattle were his life long joy.

He was baptized in 1961 and confirmed in 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bonesteel. He was united in marriage to Lois Williams and to this union two sons were born.

Wayne served as a church council member, as the Pleasant Valley Township clerk for 32 years, was a member of the American Legion Post #36, and served on the school board.

On June 26, 1974 he married Lila (Vogt) Paulson. For the past 24 years, he looked forward to spending the winters in Arizona, which he really enjoyed.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Lila of Bonesteel, SD; his sons: Michael (Mary) of Bonesteel, SD and Timothy (Mary Beth) of Spirit Lake, IA; his step-children: Debbie (Marty) Byre of Chamberlain, SD; and Brion (Kristen) Paulson of Sioux Falls, SD; his brother, Don (Shirley) of Bonesteel, SD; 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, one step-great-granddaughter and 2 nieces.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Rubin and Frieda.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Bonesteel. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Bonesteel. There will be a prayer service on Thursday at 8:30 PM at the Church.
