Violet Lorraine (Tietgen) Herman danced into heaven on August 16, 2025.

Violet was born on October 22, 1927 to Charles and Hazel Tietgen in Burke, SD. She grew up with her older brother, Charles, in Burke where she graduated from Burke High School. While attending high school, she worked at Clausen Funeral Home.

Violet met Leslie Herman at an area dance and later married on June 9, 1948, in Burke, SD. Their love brought them two sons, Larry and Duane.

Violet worked at Fairfax Elementary School for 27 years as a teacher's aid. She was active in the community at Trinity Lutheran Church and the Legion Auxiliary.

Violet had a deep faith and love for Jesus. She loved music (especially polka), Elvis, and Lucy. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her warmth, wit, and love of chocolate will be deeply missed.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Hazel, brother Charles, husband Leslie, and son Duane.

Violet is survived by her son Larry Herman (MariLynn), seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and numerous special friends.
