Stena and Alfred moved many times during their marriage. In March of 1946 they bought and moved to a farm in Vermillion, SD. The following March of 1947 they bought a farm one mile east of St. Charles, which is where she lived until entering the Whispering Pines in Burke, SD in May of 2004.

Stena was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Bonesteel where she was involved with Ladies Aid and at one time she was a member of the Pleasant valley Extension Club.
