Shirley Jean Baker was born December 1, 1937 at Geddes, South Dakota to Vince and Wilma (Rolston) Raymond and she died May 10, 2013 at the Wagner Good Samaritan Center in Wagner, South Dakota at the age of 75 years.
Shirley graduated from Lake Andes High School. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Baker, of Fairfax, on April 12, 1956, and to this union four children were born. They spent most of their lives in the Fairfax area on their farm and ranch. Shirley enjoyed the summers, spending most of her time tending to the garden and mowing. She liked crafts, driving in the evenings listening to Elvis and spending time with her family . She also enjoyed getting together for family reunions.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her son, Dennis; her parents, Vince and Wilma; her sister, Dawn Olson; sisters-in-law: Mildred Reiser, Gloria Rolston, Eleanor Richards and Joyce McIntire; brothers-in-law: Herb Reiser, Harold Rolston and Dale Sheesley.
Shirley is survived by her daughter: Denise (Larry) Umberger of Ogallala, NE and their children: Jessica (Levi) Landers, Vanessa and Scott; her daughter Diane Webster of Seward, NE and her children: Jesse and Trevor; her son, Dalen (Julie) Baker of Bonesteel, SD and their children: Lacey, Tracey and Kasey; four great-grandsons: Cage, Casey, Tanner and Ty Landers; her sisters: Sharon Sheesley of Rapid City, SD; Lila (Randy) Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD; Janice (Gary) Nelson of Palmer, AK; her brother, Gale (Kim) Raymond of Reliance, SD; her brothers-in-law: Bennie (Janice) Baker of Fairfax, SD; Mike Olson of Sioux Falls, SD; and Pepsi McIntire of O'Neill, Ne and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Fairfax. There will be a prayer service on Monday at 7:00 PM at the church. Visitation will be one hour prior to both services at the church.
