Shirley Baldwin of Bonesteel died, Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke.

Shirley Jean (Unglaub) Baldwin was born June 19, 1929 to Orr and Vinnie (LaFave) Unglaub. She attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Bonesteel High School in 1946. After graduation, she and a friend Maxine Schuman opened and operated the Bonesteel Coffee Shop.

On January 9, 1950, she married Don Baldwin and they farmed east of Bonesteel until his induction into the armed forces. Shirley moved to Atlanta, Georgia while Don received schooling in the Signal Corps. When Don was transferred to Fort Meyer, Virginia she accompanied him and was employed in the Old Dominion Bank in Annandale until he was transferred overseas. Shirley returned to Bonesteel where she was employed at a local restaurant until his discharge.

They purchased land north of Bonesteel where they farmed and ranched until she was admitted to the hospital in Burke in May. She was a member of the Calvary Bible Church in Bonesteel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Juanita, and her son-in-law Gary Cluff.

She is survived by her husband Don and two daughters, Rhonda of Scottsdale, AZ and Debra and husband Dan Herrmann of Marshall, MN and one sister Marjorie and husband Bill Bruce of Puyallup, WA, four grandchildren and one great grandson, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the Bonesteel Fire and Ambulance Departments or the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Calvary Bible Church in Bonesteel. Burial will be in the Rosebud Cemetery, Bonesteel. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM prayer service, at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke.
