Obituary

Sandra Kae Campbell was born March 20, 1956 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota, the fourth of five children in the family of Wilbur and Irene (Waterbury) Campbell. Sandy passes away at the Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield, South Dakota on October 16, 2007 at the age of 51 years, 6 months and 26 days.

Sandy was baptized on May 20, 1956 at Grace Lutheran Church in Burke, South Dakota. She was only able to spend the first 10 years of her life with her family on their farm south of Burke. She very much liked participating in the activities going on around her whenever possible, spending time outdoors and playing with her siblings. She especially enjoyed holidays with family and friends.

When Sandy was no longer able to live at home, she made her new home at the South Dakota Development Center in Redfield. She enjoyed music, dancing, jewelry, sunglasses, clothes, car rides and shopping. One of Sandys highlights was a plane trip to Nashville, Tennessee. At Opryland USA, she saw several country musicians. She went dancing, and took a ride on the General Jackson Showboat. She loved her shopping experience, especially her purchase of a cowboy hat. She also enjoyed eating at places like the Hard Rock Caf.

Sandy is survived by her sister, Norma and husband Dwight Ellwanger of Gregory, SD; her brothers: Ronald and wife Ginger of Flandreau, SD; Marlyn and wife Christine of Burke, SD; and Randy and wife Allyn of Mitchell, SD; two aunts, Dorothy Waterbury of Gregory, SD and Helen Waterbury of Burke, SD; and one uncle, Orville Waterbury of Burke, SD. She is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews, six great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and her extended family in Redfield and friends.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Irene.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 1:30 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Burke. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke. There will be a prayer service on Sunday at 5:00 PM at the church. Visitation will be one hour prior to both of the services at the church.
