IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Gary
Bruns
October 26, 1956 – February 28, 2020
Ronald Bruns was born in Anchorage, AK on October 26th, 1956 to parents Francis Edward Bruns and Mary Kathryn (Robb) Bruns. Ronald was taken in by his foster parents, Vernon and Dorothy Wells, who raised him through his childhood years, where he received his education through the Burke school district and rooted himself into the Burke community. Ronald married Ann Marie Drey on June 22, 1990 and in this union had 2 children, Adam and Garrett. Ann had 1 son, James, prior to their marriage, who Ronald adopted into the family.
Ronald was an active and memorable member of the Burke community. He had numerous occupations throughout his years in Burke which included maintaining the city's public grounds and providing convenience store, lawn mowing, arborist and construction services. He was a jack of all trades and a quality local handy man that many community members and businesses benefited from and appreciated. The services he provided reflected his pride, work ethic and sense of community.
Ronald was an avid recreationalist in hunting, camping, boating and fishing. He took pride in planning trips to the river and local hunting excursions for family and friends to enjoy. Fishing was a year around hobby of his that always brought joy to his life. He always had tips, tricks and secrets up his sleeve for fishing that he would mostly share, but retained the best secrets to give himself a leg up on his angler rivals. Whether it be rain, snow or shine, there wasn't an opportunity he passed up to take a cruise to the river or local ponds in search of the next big one to reel in.
With all Ronald did in a day, he always made time for what he valued most, family and friends. His family values reflected kindness, respect, compassion and responsibility. He took care of his own, selflessly took care of those in need and provided comfort and stability to those who depended on him. His presence at events (family, friend or community) were always welcoming, where he contributed quality home cooked meals, conversation, jokes and a helping hand. The support he provided to family and friends was one of a kind and greatly appreciated. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother and friend.
Ronald was preceded in death by his wife Ann, grandson Levi, brothers Larry, Glen and Gerald, mother Mary, father Francis, guardians Vernon and Dorothy Wells and brother-in-law Larry Drey.
