Ronald James Andrews "Tatanka Isnala" was born March 13, 1956 at Wagner, South Dakota and entered into eternal rest on October 26, 2011.
Ronald attended school at St. Charles and graduated from Bonesteel High School in 1974. During his younger days, he would stay with his grandpa Chris and grandma Dora while his parents attended school in North Dakota.
His first job was selling the Grit newspaper to the neighbors. He served as the umpire for the Maddogs Softball team. He loved horse, and his first horse was named flash, a Shetland pony. He worked at the UCC Cattle Association with Neil and Donnie. He also worked at Milk's Camp Industries and the Rosebud Housing.
Ronald was elected Community Chairman and held that office until the time of his death. He loved carpentry work and did several jobs for people. He put in a lot of work at the Youth Center and at the Ponca Creek UCC. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Ronald was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jesse, Sr. and Mercy Andrews and Chris and Dora Yellow Hawk; his uncle, Collins Yellow Hawk; his niece, Faye Yellow Hawk; and by his nephews: Wilson Andrews and Derek Yellow Hawk.
He is survived by his parents, Hampton and Mercedes (Yellow Hawk) Andrews; his siblings: Barb (Ivy) Timber, Judith Andrews, Judy (Neil) Hanson, Byron (Brenda) Andrews, Arlene Andrews and Kevin (Denise Wright) Andrews; his special friend of nine years, Rochelle Felix; his nephews: Curtis, Brandon, Barron and Byron, Jr.; and his nieces: Amber, Erica, April, Ashley, Brandi, Courtney and Kristi.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Bonesteel City Hall in Bonesteel. Wake services will begin on Sunday at 5:00 PM at the UCC Church near Bonesteel. They will continue Monday at the Bonesteel City Hall until the time of the services. Burial will be in the UCC Cemetery near St. Charles, SD.
