Robert Dean Boes was born May 27, 1947 at Booth Memorial Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska to Edward and Viola (Mayer) Boes.  He was a twin and the oldest of 4 children.

Robert attended school and graduated from Bonesteel High School in 1965.  He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Trautman February 12, 1966 in Bonesteel, SD at the Lutheran Church.  To this union, two children were born.  Brenda Lee and Robert (Bob) Edward.

He went on to college in Springfield, SD (USDS) and participated in drama and football in college.  He graduated USDS in 1969.  He practiced teaching in Parkston, SD for 6 months and then they moved back to Bonesteel.

Robert enjoyed football, fishing, golf, pheasant hunting, and spending time with family and friends.

Robert is survived by his wife, Dorothy of 59 years; children: Brenda (Troy) Shelden and their children Mason Shelden and Ryan Shelden; Bob (Tammy) Boes and their children Nathan (Courtney) Boes, Sarah (Blake) Wirtjes and their children Wrenley and Weston, Sydney Boes; his twin sister Roberta (Dave) Sextro of Butte, NE, his brothers:  LuVerne (Lillian) Boes of Virginia, Jerry (Debbie) Boes of Sioux Falls, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother-in-law Larry Hermsen, and his in-laws.

Robert Boes, 78, of Bonesteel, SD passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, SD.  Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 11:00AM at the Fairfax City Hall in Fairfax, SD.  Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery in Fairfax, SD.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to memorial service.
