Rena Pearl (Black Bull) Heck was born July 9, 1932 in Gregory, South Dakota to Clarence and Victoria (Yellow Hawk) Black Bull.  She was an only child and when she was a little girl she moved to Rapid City, with her parents.  When she was a little older she worked in a café to help her parents.  When she was a teenager, she moved back to Milk's Camp and lived with her grandma Susie Buckman.

After moving back home she met Orson Heck, Sr. and they were married at the courthouse in Burke, , South Dakota.  They had nine children and many many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Rena worked at the Industry in Bonesteel for many years and also made star quilts and hand drums at home to provide for her family.  She was a very hard worker and loved it, but what she loved the most was spending time with her family.  Her children and her grandchildren were her world and she did everything she could to teach them to be honest, respectful and hard working, just like her.  She always had a smile and the most amazing personality.  She is loved by so many and will be missed by all.

Rena was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Roger and Clemet; one daughter, Shirley;  grandsons Mark and Roger, Jr and her granddaughters: Laura Lee and Jaycee.

Rena is survived by Phyliss and her children: Russell, Orson Jr, Gregg and Teri and family, Maynard and Tracy and family, and JoAnn and family; as well as many grandkids, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Funeral services for Rena Heck, age 85 , of Herrick, SD will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the City Hall in Bonesteel, SD.  Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, St. Charles, SD.  Wake services will be held on Friday at the Hall.
