Regina Koenig was born October 27, 1920 at Osmond, Nebr. to Frank and Emma Ulrich. She died April 15, 2010 at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 18 days. At the age of four, she moved with her parents and two sisters, Hilda and Theresa, to the Burke, Bonesteel & Fairfax areas where their parents farmed and the girls attended school.

Regina was united in marriage to Aloys Koenig on Aug. 28, 1940 at St. Anthonys Church in Fairfax. To this union five children were born. Their married life was spent on their farm east of Fairfax. Al died in 1974 and Regina continued to live on the farm until 2003, when she moved to Valley View Apartments in Fairfax.

She is survived by four children, Don, and wife Pat, of Phoenix, AZ, Marge, and husband Gene Makuska , of Hermosa, SD, Leo, and wife Margaret, of Kadoka, SD, and Norbert, and wife Judy of Fairfax, eleven grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one sister Theresa, and many nieces and nephews.

Regina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Hilda, and her son Dennis, who died in 2003.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Fairfax. Burial will be in the St. Anthonys Catholic Cemetery of Fairfax. There will be a rosary on Monday at 7:30 PM at the Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to each service at the Church.
