Peter was born the youngest of nine children to Peter and Amelia (Fritz) Oberosler on June 9, 1926 in Florutz, Austria (now Italy). At the age of six, Pete left Austria/Italy with five of his siblings under the care his mother to come to the United States. The family settled in Kevin, Montana.
After attending Oilmont High School. He joined the U.S. Navy serving from May, 1944 to June of 1946. Upon returning to Kevin he owned and operated the town gas station. In 1949, he married Mary Argento, becoming a father to Mary's children, Norma and Richard. In 1952, the couple had a third
child, Julie. During the course of their marriage, the family lived in
various locations in Montana and Wyoming. Pete was always very hard working and industrious. He put his skills to good use in farming as well as working for a propane company. The couple eventually moved to California.
Pete worked as a real estate broker. Later the couple relocated to Colorado. There Pete became a service technician for a propane company
until he retired. Later the couple moved to New Mexico. After his wife's
death in 2005, Pete relocated to Gregory, to be with his daughter and son-in-law. He always stayed busy with different projects and helped with their business in Gregory. In 2014, he moved to an apartment in Burke. He died in Sioux Falls at the Veterans Medical Center February 17, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as all of his siblings, his wife and son. Surviving him in his immediate family are his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Ray Yager, Burke, and Norma in New Mexico.
Julie and Ray want to thank everyone in the community that spent time with Pete and showed their care, kindness and compassion these past years.
