Obituary

Pauline Marie Rust, the youngest of three children, was born May 30, 1928 near Burke, South Dakota to John and Marie (Leibel) Engelmeyer. She died September 17, 2007 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 79 years.

Pauline grew up on the family farm north of Burke and received her education at the Streeter Elementary School and Burke High School, graduating in 1946. She was united in marriage to Paul Charles Rust on April 18, 1959 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Burke. To this union four children were born: Paula, Phyllis, John and Joe.

Paul and Pauline settled on a farm northeast of Herrick, South Dakota and engaged in farming, with their chief interest in raising and milking Registered Holstein dairy cattle. Pauline was an active member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society, the Herrick Auxiliary, and the Tri-Circle Extension Club. She enjoyed gardening and needle work. She always had a great fondness for animals - especially her dogs and cats.

Pauline is survived by her husband, Paul of Burke, SD; her children: Paula and husband Salvador of Elk Grove, CA; Phyllis of Aurora, CO; John and wife Kim of Winnemucca, NV; and Joe and wife Lori of Yankton, SD; nine grandchildren: Jennifer and Paul Wright of Aurora, CO; Rory Casale of Middleton, ID; Kelby Casale of Reno, NV; Elizabeth, Ben and Alexandra (Lexi) Rust of Yankton, SD; Austin and Alex Gonzalez of Elk Grove, CA; and four great-grandchildren: Daraja Kaku of Aurora, CO; Anthoney, Willie and Carlee Casale of Middleton, ID; her sisters-in-law: Mildred Engelmeyer and Gail Engelmeyer, both of Burke, SD; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers: Joe Engelmeyer and John Engelmeyer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Burke, SD. Burial will be in Herrick Cemetery, Herrick, SD. There will be a rosary on Friday at 7:00 PM at the Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to both of the services at the Church.
