Orson Nelson Heck, Jr was born June 24, 1962 in Burke, South Dakota to Orson and Rena (Black Bull) Heck and he died February 3, 2022 at his home near Bonesteel, South Dakota at the age of 59 years.

He was raised in St. Charles and attended school there and in Herrick, South Dakota.  After his schooling, he worked various jobs throughout the state.

Orson was into sports, he loved football, basketball and fastpitch softball.  He loved them all.  He was a free spirit and to his family and friends was known as HEX!!  His love of music was overwhelming and was known as a practical joker to his family.  Hex loved poetry above all, his poems expressed a spiritual side of Hex that we all loved.

It was great to watch how he made us smile.  Thank you, our brother.

He is survived by him eldest sister, Phyllis Heck; brothers: Russell, Gregg and Maynard; and his youngest sister, JoAnn Heck.

Hex will be sadly missed, he touched us in a very special way and for that we are thankful.  To list all of his relations would take forever, but know this, all of your nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles cousins and friends, as well as your brothers and sisters, thank God you are finally at peace.

So be free, our brother and know that you will always  be in our thoughts and prayers.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Milks Camp Community Hall near Bonesteel.  Visitation and wake services will begin on Wednesday afternoon.
