Obituary

Norma "June" Bethje was born May 3, 1926 in Naper, Nebraska to John and Anna (Bendig) Ludemann and she died April 11, 2016 at the Butte Healthcare Center in Butte, Nebraska at the age of 89 years.

June graduated high school in 1944 from Spencer, Nebraska.  She moved to Lincoln, Nebraska for a few years before making her home in Vancouver, Washington where her two sons, Donald and Michael Taylor, were born.  In 1965 she married Wesley Bethje and together they moved to Kenai, Alaska where June was a homemaker.  She kept busy gardening and tending to her beautiful yard and flowers.  She grew award winning fruits and vegetables under the midnight sun.  She was proud of her four schnauzers, who occupied a large part of her life as well.  June also enjoyed fishing, canning, playing cards, bowling and betting on the Super Bowl.  She was a member of the Nikiski Red Hat Society and the Nikiski Senior Center.

Due to failing health, June moved to the Haisch Haus Assisted Living, Bonesteel, SD in October of 2011 and then into the Butte Healthcare Center in June of 2013.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley in 2003; her parents, John and Anna; her two sons: Donnie Taylor and Mike Taylor; her brothers: Allen Ludemann, Bob Ludemann & Ed Ludemann; and her sisters: Pearl Ludemann and Shirley Rang.

Happy to have shared her life are her daughter-in-law, Colleen Taylor of Fairfax, SD; her step-daughter, Cassandra (James) Faulkner of Kalama, WA; her step-daughter, Shirley (Mike) Holmes of Joseph, OR; four grandchildren: Monica (Jason) Jons of Bonesteel, SD; Donnie (Shelia) Taylor of O'Neill, NE; Charlie (Angela) Taylor of Sioux Falls, SD;  and Molly (Kris) Sybesma of Platte, SD; five step-grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; her brothers: Darrel Ludemann of Lynch, NE; Wayne Ludemann of Fairfax, SD; her sisters: Doris Sachtjen of Downsville, LA; LuVerne Ludwig of Spencer, NE; Rosemary Hartshorn of Monroe, OR; and Jane Frank of Burke, SD.


Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, SD.  Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Fairfax.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
