Neoma Irene Holub was born December 10, 1932 on her aunt Hazel Marins farm west of Lucas, South Dakota to Lee and Viola Pearl (Dappen) Stevicks. She died June 3, 2013 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 80 years.
Neoma lived with her parents, brothers and sisters on a farm northeast of Lucas. She attended East Gray School until 1947 when she moved with her family south of Burke. She then attended the McCumber School and graduated from Burke High School in 1952.
Neoma was united in marriage to John Holub and to this union one son, Roland was born. In March of 2010 she was diagnosed with cancer. She was later received her baptism in the Missouri River.
Neoma was a member of the Union Baptist Church; a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Burke, where she held many offices and truly loved serving; as well as the American Legion post in Herrick..
Neoma was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Melvin and Laurel; and her sister, Maude King. She is survived by her husband, John of Burke, SD; her son, Roland of Burke, SD; her sisters: Eileen Ronfeldt of Lake Andes, SD; and Iva King of Yankton, SD; as well as several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
