Nellie Connell was born September 24, 1915 at Worthing, South Dakota to George and Ruby (Frazier) Bradshaw. She died August 12, 2008 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 92 years. Nellie attended college at Yankton College in Yankton, South Dakota. She taught elementary school for over 33 years in Burke, South Dakota. She was an active member of the Burke United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Nellie was preceded in death by her longtime husband, Robert James Connell and by her parents, George and Ruby. Nellie is survived by her loving daughter, Beverly Connell Rowatt and her husband Bob. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Thomas Scott Rowatt and Tricia Ann Serres. Nellie was also blessed with a strong and loving relationship with her great-grandchildren Sydney Elizabeth Rowatt, Taylor Kathryn Rowatt, Robert Conner Serres and Morgan Leigh Serres. Nellie was a strong proponent and supporter of the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, and, toward that end, in lieu of flowers her family requests that any donations be made to the Nellie Connell Memorial Fund, which will benefit the hospital, and has been established at First Fidelity Bank in Burke, South Dakota. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Burke. Burial will in the Worthing Cemetery, Worthing, SD. There will be a prayer service on Friday at 7:00 PM at the Church.
