Obituary

Naomi Ruth Roggow was born February 10, 1934 at Gregory, South Dakota to Guy and Cora (Mosher) Parish, she was the youngest of fourteen children, seven girls and seven boys.  She died September 29, 2016 at Avera Hospice in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 82 years.

Naomi grew up in Gregory and attended the Gregory Assembly of God Church, where she met her husband, Darrell, and they were married for 65 years.  In their later years, they supported the Lucas Baptist Church, which was close to their home.  They lived on a farm one mile east of Lucas where they raised four children: Douglas, Lynnae, Kerri and Kami.

Naomi was actively involved in her church where she played the organ for many years.  She also loved to sing and play the piano.  There are many wonderful memories of her singing with her family.  In her last days and hours, she had many family members singing around her bedside, which brought her much comfort.  Her hobbies included planting flowers and tomato's, canning tomato's, mowing her huge yard, word search puzzles, and going to town to have coffee, often with friends.

Naomi had a sweet smile and an infectious laugh.  She was also known for keeping the road hot from home to Burke, many times a day.  She loved to have family and friends around her to cook for and to play games.  Naomi and Darrell were also active supporters of the Burke area sports teams for many years.

In the spring of 2016 she left the farm and moved to an apartment in Burke.  Shortly after her move, she had a heart attack and in her recovery process she moved to Touchmark Assisted Living  in Sioux Falls.  After suffering from dementia issues for several months she passed away peacefully on September 29, 2016.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Cora; six brothers, five sisters and one grandson.

Naomi is survived by husband, Darrell; her children: Douglas Roggow of Ipswich, SD; Lynnae Grubbs of Gilbert, AZ; Kerri Winter of West Des Moines, IA; and Kami Ellerbroek of Sioux Falls, SD; eleven grandchildren: Holly Roggow, John Roggow, Joshua Grubbs, Krisann Mayfield, Deanna Mendoza, Dana Davis, Kassandra Winter , Derrick Winter, Kalise, Sophia and John Ellerbroek.  She is also survived by her fifteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Verna Stroh (95) of Sioux Falls, SD and one brother Martin (100) of Hemet, CA.
