Naomi grew up in the Burke, South Dakota area, attending country school north of Burke, and graduating from Burke High School in 1934. On December 25, 1934 she married Cedric Peter Fedde in Burke. They made their home on a farm south of Burke and lived there for most of their married lives. After Cedric passed, Naomi continued to live on the farm until a few months before her death. Five children, Pharis, Margaret, Cedric, Jim and Mike were born to this union.
Naomi was very active in her community. She was a long time member of Jamison Immanuel Lutheran Church teaching Sunday and Bible Schools for over fifty years. She belonged to the Gregory County Extension Club, was a 4-H leader, and a fifty-year VFW auxiliary member serving as president and the Americanism Chairperson many times. Naomi received numerous awards while she was active in these organizations. She was also an Avon Representative for fifty years and belonged to the Burke Senior Citizens.
Gardening was a favorite activity and she made delicious pickles, sauerkraut, and jellies from her garden. She loved preparing home cooked foods for her family at holidays and other special occasions. Fried chicken was one of her special entrees. Her cooking was also enjoyed by the pheasant hunters who visited the farm home for forty years. Reading was another favorite hobby as well as ballroom dancing. In her later years, she spent the winter months in California with Pharis, Jan and family.
Naomi was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Cedric Fedde; her parents; five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by four sons Pharis (Jan) Lakewood, California; Cedric (Mary Jane) Boise, Idaho; Jim (Cheryl), Burke, South Dakota; Mike (Betty) Eagan, Minnesota, and one daughter Margaret (Tom Anderson), Rapid City, South Dakota, as well as thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and other family members in the community.
The family feels very grateful and blessed to have had our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with us for so many years.
