Max LeRoy Williams was born June 5, 1932 north of Bonesteel, South Dakota to Roy and Alpha (Lunn) Williams and he died November 29, 2012 at Topeka, Kansas at the age of 80 years.
Max began his schooling in town before moving to the ranch where he would spend the rest of his life. He finished grade school at a country school and graduated from Bonesteel High School in 1951. He was united in marriage to Marvilla Jons on November 7, 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bonesteel and to this union four children were born: Marla, Marlin, Marty and Mark. The ceremony took place in the church basement, as construction was being done to complete the church.
Max's interests included being a 4-H leader, held an office on the Whetstone Township Board, served on the school board and enjoyed bowling until it was time to calve in the spring. He also traveled to Watertown to learn the trade of A-I, and also enjoyed going to bull auctions. He was a past member of the Stock Growers Association.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and several uncles and aunts.
Max is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marvilla; daughter, Marla of Topeka, KS; son, Marlin Max and wife Beth of Topeka, KS; son, Marty and wife Ann of Clarinda, IA; son, Mark and wife Sandy of Bonesteel, SD; a sister, Lois and husband Vernon Pepper of Bonesteel, SD; his grandchildren: Jessica (Jeffrey) Biehn of Hutchinson, MN; Lori (Jeffrey) Coleman of Clive, IA; Alan (Meagan) Williams of Overland Park, KS; Justin Williams of Topeka, KS; Jesse, Cody and Shyanne Williams of Bonesteel, SD; and his great-grandchildren: Isaac, Evelyn and Jamie Biehn of Hutchinson, MN; Matthais and Williams Coleman of Clive, IA; and Cecelia and Victor Scott Williams of Overland Park, KS.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Bonesteel. Burial will be in the Rosebud Cemetery, Bonesteel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.
