Mary Louise Duerfeldt was born May 23, 1953 at Gregory, South Dakota to Frank and Ruth (Sylvester) Gessner. She left this earth on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 56 years.
Mary was raised and lived her life in the Burke, South Dakota and the Mills, Nebraska area. She loved her gardening, cookbooks, spending time with her grandkids and life in general.
Mary was preceded in death by her son, Greg and by her grandparents: Earl and Bertha Sylvester and Francis Gessner.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Bob of Burke, SD; two children: Richard Hoffman and Angela Hoffman both of Burke, SD; two stepsons with families: Mark and Darcy Duerfeldt of Herrick, SD and Mike and Ammie Duerfeldt of St. Charles, SD; her parents: Frank and Ruth Gessner of Mills, NE; and her grandchildren as well as several family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Union Baptist Church in Burke. Burial will be in the Olive Branch Cemetery in Mills, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 PM, with a 7 PM prayer service, at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke.
