Mary Beth Applebee was born May 15, 1935 at Bonesteel, South Dakota to John and Ethel (Hagadorn) Applebee and she died September 26, 2008 at the Gregory Healthcare Center in Gregory, South Dakota at the age of 73 years. Mary lived in Bonesteel her entire life. She graduated from Bonesteel High School in 1956. She was a child care provider for many years. She also worked for her brother at the Apple Lanes Bowling Alley in Bonesteel and cared for her mother for several years until she entered long term care. Mary was a member of the Cavalry Bible Church in Bonesteel. She was also a member of the Women's Club and the Over 50 Club. She spent many hours crocheting and working on other crafts. Mary loved baseball. She attended many local games at the ball park and watched major league baseball on TV. Two of her favorite things to do were to eat out with her lady friends and to spend time at the Senior Center playing cards. She was very proud of her family and thoroughly enjoyed her nieces and nephews. Mary entered the Rosebud Country Care Center in Gregory in February of 2008. Mary is survived by her three brothers: Don (Mary Ann) of Walla Walla, Washington; Jerald of Murdo, South Dakota and John (Jeanne) of Bonesteel, South Dakota; nine nieces, four nephews and many grand nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her father and mother, and one sister, Donna.Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Calvary Bible Church in Bonesteel. Burial will in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Bonesteel. There will be a prayer service on Sunday at 5:00 PM at the church in Bonesteel. Visitation will be one hour prior to both services at the church.
