IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marlan Everett
Green
December 25, 1936 – July 27, 2018

He grew up on the farm in the Naper, NE and Herrick, SD areas. He attended grade school at the Goodman School south of Herrick and graduated from Naper High School in May of 1954. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Naper, NE. After high school he worked various jobs with several local farmers and primarily for his Grandfather John Nicolaus near Butte, NE. In the Fall of 1956 he enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged in October of 1959.
He married Joan Fuhrer on May 24, 1959. They lived in Fort Huachuca, AZ until his discharge and then worked in the Bristow, NE, Herrick, SD and Burke, SD areas. He worked for various famers, for Kallander's Market in Burke and Cerny Implement in Burke. In June of 1972, Marlan and Joan purchased the Standard Station in Burke which they operated until September 2001 when Marlan was forced to retire after having a stroke which left him unable to work. He lived at home until January 2013 until his health forced him to move the Rosebud Country Care Center in Gregory, SD.
Marlan truly had a servant heart. He volunteered as a fireman for the Burke Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years and the Burke Volunteer Ambulance Service for over 30 years. He was active in the community, served on the City Council, and also diligently served as Head Usher at Grace Lutheran Church in Burke for an extended period of time. Marlan made himself available to help others in need whether it was at church or with the fire or ambulance department or helping strangers in the middle of the night or on weekends when they were traveling through and their vehicles broke down. He was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and loved to have company and visit.
