Mark Allen Koenig, age 47, of Tracy, MN, was born on July 27th, 1965, to Bill and Pat (Humpal) Koenig at Lynch, NE, and died April 25th, 2013, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

He attended all of his years of elementary and high school education in the Fairfax School system, Fairfax, SD, graduating in 1983, which was the last year the high school was open in Fairfax. Mark and his class are to be inducted into an Alumni-related organization's "Wall of Fame" this coming June as part of their 30-year celebration.

Mark's collegiate studies were all in the areas of electronics and computers at USD/Springfield, Southwest State at Marshall, MN, and at SDSU in Brookings, where he obtained his degree.

Mark lived and worked at various places over the course of his life -- Daktronics in Brookings during and right after his college days there (also part-time at Pizza Hut prior to his graduation); Schwans in Marshall, MN during his Southwest State days there; Godfather's Pizza in Worthington, MN, where he was a manager; Syncom in Mitchell, SD; Gateway and Lodgenet in Sioux Falls, SD; and for Quest in Omaha, NE, Des Moines, IA, Las Vegas, NM, Los Alamos, NM, and in the Marshall, MN area. He was trained on a number of different computers and equipment and most recently serviced the area communities in the Marshall - Tracy - St. Cloud, MN locales for Quest (now Centurylink).

Mark loved sports of all kinds and was one of the biggest Oakland (LA) Raider fans ever. He even took in a number of the local high school sporting events in the communities he lived in.

Mark will especially be missed by his mother, Pat, brother, Jim, and sister, Mary, all of Fairfax, SD, his brother, Bill and wife, Tracey, of Spencer, IA, as well as their children, Jessica Sitting Crow and husband, Perry, Estherville, IA, Matt Koenig, Iowa State in Ames, IA, and Brad Koenig of Spencer, IA, and one other brother, Dave Koenig and his children, Jonah and Elizabeth of Leland, NC, step-nieces Ally Busse, Ames, IA, Nicky Busse, Ft. Dodge, IA, and Sammy Busse of Jacksonville, NC.

Mark also touched the hearts of many exchange student brothers and sisters and their families -- Tony Urunuela, Memo Riggen and Manuel Cabal, Mexico City, MX, Mari (Urunuela) Martinez, Silvia (Jimenez) Sandoval, Tony and Luis Riggen, all of Guadalajara, MX, Memo, Paulina, and Jorge Abaroa of Monterrey, MX, Luisi (Urunuela) Cornejo of San Luis Potosi, MX, and Dan Albuquerque of Forta Lesa, Brazil.

Mark was preceded in death by his dad, Bill, in 1994, his paternal and maternal grandparents, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2:00 PM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fairfax, SD. Burial will be in the St. Anthony's Cemetery, Fairfax.There will be a rosary on Friday at 7:00 PM at the church. Visitation will be one hour prior to both services at the church. .
