Obituary

Marjorie Johanna (Miller) LaFave, 92, of Bonesteel, passed away on April 9, 2016, with her son and grandchildren by her side.
Marge was born on March 9, 1924, on a farm southwest of Herrick, to Jeffrey and Maude (Hoy) Miller. She was the youngest of four siblings: Clara Lunderman, Mildred (Jano) Zimmerman, and Everett (Boop) Miller.
After graduating from Burke High School, Marge went on to earn a bachelors degree in education and a master's degree in counseling. During her career as an educator, she taught at several rural schools in Charles Mix and Gregory Counties. Later, she taught elementary school in Burke and Gregory, eventually serving as a school counselor in Bonesteel and Colome. In later years, she managed the Hertz Motel in Bonesteel.
Throughout her life, Marge was an active member of several community groups, including Eastern Star, the Over 50 Club, and the Bonesteel Women's Club. As a lifelong resident of Gregory County, she most cherished spending time with her friends, family, and neighbors.
Marge was preceded in death by Samuel, her husband of nearly 50 years. She is survived by her son, Dwayne (De Smet, SD); two grandchildren, Jeffrey (Washington, DC) and Allison (Philadelphia, PA); and her special friend, Harry Odenbach.
