Obituary

Marjorie Kortmeyer was born to Jacob D. and Libbie (Moses) Boucher on March 3, 1921, on a farm near Dallas, SD, and died at the Gregory Community Hospital on August 20, 2005, at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 17 days. She had been a resident of the Rosebud Country Care Center for one and a half years.

Marjorie was third oldest of her siblings: Robert, Ella, Lelia, the twins Alberta and Alfred, and Jacob D. Jr.

During her childhood, her family moved from the Dallas area to farms near Wewela and then Stuart, NE. Her early schooling was in country schools. In Naper she worked in her fathers grocery store. She graduated from Naper High School in 1939 and worked in the Stuart Hospital.

Marjorie married Louis Kortmeyer and the couple lived in Missouri and at Fort Bliss, Texas. Louis served in New Guinea and the Philippines in WWII, and upon his return the couple operated a caf and theater in Naper, as well as bowling lanes.

The pair went into carpentry and construction work. Marjorie and Louis, working together, were well-known for the houses they built and the remodeling they did in the area. Louis died in 1983. They are survived by their daughters: Marjorie Saiser and husband Don of Lincoln, NE; Katherine Eilers of Sioux City, IA; and Carla Allen and husband Lee of Oklahoma City, OK.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her brothers Robert and Alfred. She enjoyed her grandchildren, sharing woodworking, cooking, sewing, quilting, jelly making, and playing cards. Her grandchildren are Paul Ladehoff, Susan Ladehoff; Annette Feistner, Ronald Eilers, Jr., Louis Eilers, Audrey Schieuer, John Eilers; Daniel Allen, Jeremiah Allen, and Mariah Allen.

Her great-grandchildren are Rosalyn and Calvin Stilen; Jake, Jasmine, and Rodney Eilers; Kaitlin, Jack, and Abe Schieuer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2005 at 2:00 PM at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Naper, NE. Burial will be in the Knollcrest Cemetery, Naper. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 PM, with a 7:30 PM prayer service, at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke.
