Marion was born September 20, 1922 at the homestead north of Gregory, South Dakota to Frank and Abbie (Blake) Soesbe and died October 9, 2013 at the Avera Rosebud Country Care Center, Gregory, South Dakota at the age of 91.

Marion grew up on the family farm north of Gregory. She graduated from Gregory High School and then attended Southern Normal Teachers College at Springfield, South Dakota and taught for several years.

On October 11, 1941 she married Howard Peterson at Burke, South Dakota and to this union five children were born. In July of 1974 they semi retired and moved to Burke.

She was a member of the Lucas Baptist Church, Eastern Star and various other organizations.

She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren and her many friends.

Marion is survived by five children: Sharon Neuharth of Burke, SD; Carol Melius of Gold Canyon, AZ; Sanna Fast of Winner, SD; Sue Chytka of Burke, SD; and Jerry (Elaine) Peterson of Burke, SD; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grand children and 1 great-great-grand child.

Marion was preceded in death by her husband Howard, her parents, one grandson Richard Bruns, two sons-in-law: Gary Fast and Gene Chytka.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the Union Baptist Church in Burke, SD. There will be prayer service on Friday at 7:30 PM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Visitation will be one hour prior to both services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Burke.
