Margaret Freida Deering was born July 23, 1928 at Dallas, South Dakota to Reese and Freida (Jansen) Dunn and she died August 19, 2014 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 86 years.

Margaret was the eldest of four children. She graduated from Gregory High School. On March 6, 1949 she married Harold (Shorty) Deering. They farmed and ranched at Lucas, South Dakota for 52 years before moving into Burke in 2001.

Margaret worked for several years at Prewitt's Grocery and Pats Food Town before retiring. She was active in Mary and Martha Society, Lucas Baptist Church, and in the Senior Center in Burke, having served as treasurer for both. She attended the Lucas Baptist Church.

Margaret's greatest joy was her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Harold, Jr. and wife Darlene of Brandon, SD; her daughter, Karen and husband Doug Brucklacher of Watertown, SD; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dee Deering of Pierre, SD; one brother, Don Dunn and wife Deloris of Valley Springs, CA; one brother-in-law, Elman Deering of Akron, OH; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke. There will be a visitation on Friday from 4 PM until 7 PM, at the funeral home.
