Lyle Wayne Drey was born August 15, 1920 at Lucas, South Dakota to Albert and Edna Mae (Jones) Drey and he died January 10, 2007 at the Rosebud Country Care Center Nursing Home in Gregory, South Dakota at the age of 86 years.

Lyle married LaDora Grace Sikes on September 10, 1941. After Lyles WWII naval service in the South Pacific, the couple moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where they opened a chain of four restaurants. After selling the restaurants Lyle joined the U.S. Post Office where he eventually retired from in 1982 in McLean, Nebraska.

After retiring they returned to the Gregory and Burke area. He loved to golf, build and repair golf clubs and garden.

Lyle is survived by two daughters: Barbara Pope of Burke, SD and Cheryl Fedde of Burke, SD; a son, Michael Drey of Gladwin, Michigan; seven grand children: Chris Fedde, Kristi Fedde, Nick Fedde, Jeff Pope, Theresa Grimes, Brian Frederick and Julie Johnson; eight great grand children: Amber Grimes, Joe Grimes, Camden Frederick, Alex Frederick, Jace Frederick, Logan Johnson, Dylan Rose Johnson, and Charly Belle Johnson; two brothers: Marvin Drey of Burke, SD and Gerald Drey of Burke, SD; three sisters: Marcella Acton of Fort Walton Beach, FL; Vivian Libel of Burke, SD and Pauline Howell of Colorado Springs, CO.

Lyle was preceded in death by his wife LaDora Grace Drey, a son, Lynn Gregory Drey, a grandson Anthony Pope and brother Vernon Drey.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke. Visitation will be Tuesday morning prior to the services at the funeral home.
