Luella Ann Tietgen was born November 10, 1933 in Fairfax, SD to Peter and Mary (Opst) Bentz. She passed away on March 22, 2014 at the Rosebud Country Care Center at the age of 80.

After his discharge from the Navy, they returned to the farm south of Burke where they raised their 5 children and helped raise Luella's younger siblings and extended family. Their home was always a warm and loving place for friends and children.

She also served as president of the Burke Hospital Auxiliary for several years. Luella loved baking, embroidery, gardening, collecting dolls, salt and pepper shakers and caring for her family. The biggest joy in Luella's life was the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
