Lila Marie Baldwin was born December 16, 1943 at Gregory, South Dakota to Martin and Vergie (Green) Vogt and she died October 26, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 79 years.
Lila grew up in Herrick and graduated from Bonesteel High School. She moved to Rapid City and graduated from Rapid City Business College. She then operated a home daycare for a while. She also served as a manager at a K-MART store. She then moved throughout Nebraska working various jobs. In 1972 she moved to Bonesteel, South Dakota where she worked at the City Liquor Store for a few years.
On March 17, 1961 she was married to Gerald Dummer at Bonesteel and to this union one daughter Debbie (Dummer) Byre was born.
On June 19, 1964 she was united in marriage to Richard Paulson at Rapid City and to this union one son Brion Paulson was born.
On June 26, 1974 Lila was married to Wayne Baldwin and to this union joined two stepsons, Michael and Tim Baldwin. Lila and Wayne lived outside of Bonesteel where they farmed, milked cows, raised feeder cattle and assorted animals.
In 2009, Lila entered the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Sioux Falls where she lived the rest of her life. There, Lila touched the hearts of many people with her smile, good stories, sassiness and good humor.
Lila was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Bonesteel. She loved camping and fishing with family and friends and loved her many crafts. She and her sister had a porcelain doll business in Bonesteel. She looked forward to going to Arizona for the Winter months. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lila was preceded in death by her husbands Gerald, Richard and Wayne, one grandson Allen Bohnet, her parents Martin and Vergie Vogt, one brother, Gary Vogt and one sister, Shirley Neilan.
Lila is survived by her children: Debbie (Marty) Byre of Chamberlain, SD; Brion (Kristen) Paulson of Renner, SD; Michael (Mary) Baldwin of Bonesteel, SD; and Tim (Mary Beth) Baldwin of Spearfish, SD. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren: Erin (Bo) Hamiel, Harley (Patrick) Allayna, Carter and Kason, Parker, Timmi Bubak (Mark) Sage and Margo, Paul (Bailey) Baldwin Augie, Jesse Baldwin Alec (Ashley) Lisa Baldwin, John (Angel) Aubrey, Ariel, Wayne, Lindsay Anderson (Jared) Abigail, Carli and Lucy. She is also survived by her five siblings: Velva June Blum, Margaret Schmitz, Roy (Shirley) Vogt, Earl (Darlene) Vogt, Ronnie (Deb) Vogt, sister-in-law Mary Ellen Vogt, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Lila touched many people in her life and was loved by all.
Funeral services for Lila Baldwin, age 79, formerly of Bonesteel, SD will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Bonesteel, SD. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Bonesteel. There will be a visitation on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
