Obituary

Lester Herbert Neumiller was born at home on July 6, 1929 above Odenbach Bay near Bonesteel, South Dakota to Chris and Lydia (Kulm) Neumiller.  He was the fourth child in the family of seven children.  Lester Neumiller passed away October 17, 2021 at Butte Senior Living, Butte, Nebraska.

The Neumiller family moved from the farm near Bonesteel, South Dakota to a farm near Gross, Nebraska when he was in elementary school.   In 1942 they moved to the farm south west of Naper, Nebraska where he graduated from Naper High School in 1948.  He worked on various farms for different people in the Naper area.

Lester married Arlene Nicolaus on January 25, 1952.  They farmed and ranched in the Naper area until 1982 when Lester became a rural mail carrier in Fullerton, Nebraska.

He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Naper, Nebraska and the First Presbyterian Church in Fullerton, Nebraska.

Lester enjoyed visiting with people, gardening, reading, and working with animals.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.  He loved learning about people, places and new ways to farm or build things.  During his life he had the privilege to help build two churches, several houses, various buildings and renovations.

Over his lifetime he belonged to the Naper Lions Club, Nebraska Rural Carriers, District III Rural Carriers, Five County Rural Carriers, and served on the Church Board, the Boyd County 4-H Council, the local Coop Board, the Kulm Family Association Board of Directors, and was a 4-h leader.  He was always active in the community and ready to assist in various projects

Survivors include: one brother Paul Neumiller of Bonesteel, South Dakota; one sister Louise Zink of Butte, Nebraska; one daughter, Marcia Hogan and her husband Michael of Hastings Nebraska; granddaughter Krystle (Josiah) Anderson of Lincoln Nebraska; granddaughter Kelly (Tyler) Juilfs of Nebraska City, Nebraska; one son, Brent Neumiller of Naper Nebraska; granddaughter Megan (Justin Buhlke)  Neumiller of Hastings, Nebraska; two grandsons: Chris Neumiller and fiancé Amanda Hansen of Naper, Nebraska and Jerry Neumiller of Naper, Nebraska.  Great grandchildren: Dylan Anderson, Drake Anderson, Kinley Juilfs, Ky Juilfs, Madison Neumiller, Blake Buhlke, Kavan Scribner,  Quentin Buhlke, Brooklyn Neumiller, Tannor Neumiller, Dakotah Neumiller, Addalynn Neumiller, Aiden Neumiller, Logan Jackson, Landon Jackson, Nevaeh Jackson, Carter Jackson, and Braxton Neumiller.  The special person in his later years: Gaynell Keller and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Arlene and siblings:  sister Edna Nelson and her husband Findrew Nelson; sister Esther Fuhrer and her husband Lyle Fuhrer; brother Herman Neumiller and wife Betty Neumiller; brother Arthur Neumiller; and brother in law Wayne Zink.

Memorials may go to the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Naper, Nebraska, the First Presbyterian Church of Fullerton, Nebraska and the Kulm Family Association.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the UCC Church in Naper, NE.  Burial will be in the Knollcrest Cemetery of Naper.  Visitation will be Friday from 6 PM until 7 PM, with a 7 PM prayer service at the Church.
