Leon Herman Krueger was born November 26, 1923 near Bonesteel, South Dakota to Martin and Lydia (Odenbach) Krueger and he died April 10, 2005 at the Rosebud Country Care Center Nursing Home in Gregory, South Dakota at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 14 days.
Leon grew up on the family farm near Bonesteel, South Dakota and attended school in Bonesteel, graduating with the class of 1943. He was united in marriage to Joan Peppel on September 11, 1944 at the Methodist Parsonage in Burke, South Dakota, and to this union 5 children were born: Connie, Betty, Jim, Dan and Judy.
Leon and Joan farmed and raised their family near St. Charles their entire married life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and shooting pool. He was a real people person, as was evident with his many hours spent visiting with the neighbors.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Herbert; his grandson, Donny, his granddaughter, Paula; his sister-in-law, Iona Krueger and his brother-in-law, Albert Stoltenberg.
Leon is survived by his wife, Joan of Burke, South Dakota; his daughter, Connie and husband Eugene Pistulka of Fairfax, South Dakota; his daughter, Betty and husband Jim Hoar of Murdo, South Dakota; his son, Jim and wife Diane of Huron, South Dakota; his son, Dan and wife Sandy of Gregory, South Dakota and his daughter, Judy and husband Milton Feddersen of Murdo, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his brothers: Louie and wife Lila of Fulton, Illinois; Lenhart and wife Esther of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and Bill and Joann of Payette, Idaho; his sister, Delores Stoltenberg of Ord, Nebraska and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services, will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Burial will be in the Rosebud Cemetery, Bonesteel, SD. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM, with a 7:30 PM prayer service, at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke.
