Lena Irene Miller was born March 3, 1924 to Rudolph and Bertha (Ring) Willuweit at their home south of Burke near Jamison, Nebraska. She attended country school through the eighth grade, before attending Burke High School. She graduated in May of 1942. She then attended Southern Dakota Teachers College, graduating with her teachers certificate. She taught in rural schools around Burke and other areas she lived.

In the year of 1949 she married her husband, Delbert Miller on June 19th at the new Lutheran Church in Burke. Together they farmed different locations north of Burke, having their children: Sandra, Diane and Clark.

In 1972, they moved into Burke, which would be their final move of their marriage. They then started the next phase of their lives. Lena ran the plumbing business, the shop, they started. The plumbing salesmen served as Lena"s teachers in the plumbing business. She always ran the business quite well, usually telling any customer how to convert from galvanized to copper pipe the right way. If she felt the customer was wrong, she would tell him it was wrong and show him the right way to do it. She also was sorry for the prices being too high. She ran the shop from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, six days a week. In the later years she went to just afternoons at the shop. She always loved working with flowers and her garden.

In 2010, she was not able to stay at home any longer, so on June 24, she became a resident of the Gregory Nursing Home. She lived her remaining days there, until her death on April 11, 2013.

Lena is survived by her husband, Delbert; two daughters: Sandra Johnson of Springdale, Arkasas and Diane Audiss of Olympia, Washington; her son, Clark of Burke, SD; her loving grandchildren: Chad Sunner, Stana Pelzel and Heather O"Connor and great-grandchildren: Lucas, Sophia and Marshall. She will also be missed by her sisters, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the Grace Lutheran Church in Burke. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM prayer service, at the church.
