Lavona Etta Camin was born on March 23, 1935 at Millboro, South Dakota to Wager and Iva Frances (Wood) Davis. She passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Burke Community Hospital at the age of 79.



Lavona was united in marriage to Duane Camin on May 18, 1970. They made their home in Burke where they raised five children. She worked as a telephone operator in Winner and as a caregiver for several years at Burke Hospital and Gregory Nursing Home. She also worked at Ben Franklin in Gregory for a time. She was very active with knitting, sewing, quilting and other crafts throughout her life. She was also very skilled in cooking, baking and gardening.



Lavona was preceded in death by her husband Duane, parents Wager and Iva, two brothers, Albert and Wager Jr. and one sister Karon.



Lavona is survived by three sons, Byron and wife Cassandra, Donald and David, two daughters, Donna and husband Quentin Moore and Darla and husband Kevin Knight, her grandchildren, two sisters, Iva Ellen and Gaynel, brother George Davis and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Burial will be in Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 2:00 PM MDT.
