Larry Raymond Frank, 81, passed away November 25, 2024 at Sanford Memorial Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, surrounded by family members after a brief illness of Multiple Myloma.
Larry was born September 8, 1943, in Burke, SD the son of Alfred and Frieda (Stahlecker) Frank.
Larry attended grade school at the Allum Country School and graduated from Burke High School in 1962. After high school Larry worked for the Gregory County Highway Department a few years and then worked 32 years with Schweigert Construction of Gregory. Upon retirement he worked part-time for area farmers.
In his spare time he loved to fish, hunt, trap and garden. His garden produce and fish were enjoyed by all those he shared with.
Larry had a severe allergy to nuts, but could eat peanuts and loved to have dry roasted peanuts with his evening beer and also loved Snicker candy bars.
On January 11, 2008 he married Jane (Ludemann) Deffenbaugh. With this union he gained Jane's four wonderful children who greeted him unconditionally.
After Jane's passing, Larry acquired quite a "Routine", breakfast at 8:00, morning coffee at the Locker at 10:00, afternoon coffee at 3:00 provided no fishing or hunting, but had to be home by 5:00 to have two beers before supper at 6:00.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife Jane; parents, brothers: Delbert, Jimmy, Bill, and Dean, sister Beverly, brother-in-laws: Dennis Berg, Emery Bailey, Mike Dacy and Randy DeWolf.
Larry is survived by his siblings: Donald (Joyce) Frank of Gregory, Karen (Ray) Heiser of Mitchell, JoAnn Berg of Sioux Falls, Linda Dewolf of Burke, and Diane Dacy of Sioux Falls, Jane's children: Donnie (HeeSook) Koenig of Antelope, CA; Shelly and Bill Hale of Camdenton, MO; Lisa and Pat Fahey of Spearfish, SD and Lori and Jeff Pistulka of Fairfax along with numerous nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Union Baptist Church in Burke. Inurnment will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke. There will be a prayer service on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 7:00 PM at the church.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Burke Day Care.
