Larry James Drey was born on August 31, 1961 in Burke, South Dakota to Earl and Jamie Drey and he died on November 7, 2007 at his home at the age of 46 years, 3 months and 7 days.

Larry attended elementary and high school in Burke, graduating in 1979. Larry was active in many sports, including football, wrestling (he was a state competitor), baseball and slow-pitch softball.

Larry was united in marriage to Valerie Bunne in 1984. From this union five children were born: Jenna, Sarah, Allora, Cristina, and Dell. Larry was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Burke.

Larry is survived by Valerie and his children, Jenna, Sarah, Allora, Cristina, and Dell; his father, Earl Drey and his step-mother Mary Drey; his sisters, Sheri, Peoria, IL, Julie (Bart) Bartling, Herrick, SD Stacey, Hemingford, NE, his brothers Michael (Cyndi), Colton, SD, Mark (Robyn), Victor, NY, Gregg (Shelly) Crooks, SD, Joel, (Gretchen), Herrick, SD, Earl Jr., (Jill), Jacksonville, FL, Scot (Teresa), Pipestone, MN and Brian (Tina-Marie), Hutchinson, MN and their families; and his brother-in-law, Ron Bruns and his family. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Barbara Bunne, her family, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Jamie; his sister, Ann; his paternal grandparents, Delbert and Elsie Drey; his maternal grandparents, James and Marie Patterson; and his father-in-law, Bernard Bunne.

Larry loved his kids, spending time with them and sharing in their activities. Other enjoyments in Larry's life were wrestling, softball, watching the Minnesota Twins, and visiting with friends and family. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 12, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Burke, SD. Burial will be in the Herrick Cemetery, Herrick. There will be a rosary on Sunday at 7:00 PM at the church. Visitation will be one hour prior to both services at the church.
