Kerry Lee Klein was born at Wagner, SD on July 15, 1959 to Darwin and Elva (Schroeder) Klein and passed away peacefully at the Winner Regional Hospital with his family by his side on February 11, 2011 at the age of 51. He was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Bonesteel. Kerry learned about God in his early years going to the Lucas Baptist Church Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. He respected and practiced all of Gods teachings and his best motto was Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. That definitely worked for Kerry as he never met a person who didnt like him.
Kerry worked odd jobs until he was old enough to drive the truck. He started out pulling grain trailers and bought his own tractor with flatbed trailer. Kerry hauled for several different companies, but most of his millions of miles were with Northern Hills Transport (Sturgis, SD), Wyllie Transportation (Fargo, ND) and Quality Transportation (Baker, MT). Kerry was also well known by his trucker buddies, especially those who had dogs. Kerry never owned a dog; however he had many four legged friends that tracked him down for doggie treats at the many truck stops he parked at.
Even though Kerry loved to be behind the wheel of his 18 wheeler, Kerrys second love was enjoying and spoiling his 3 nephews (DJ, Darin & Eric) and 1 niece (Ashley). He watched them grow up from babies to young adults, but his greatest pleasure was taking them uptown to Cahoys, Lesters and the licorice store; however with Eric he found his fishing buddy. While he didnt get to spend much time with his great niece (Hailey) and great nephew (Riley), he was like a second grandpa and always had little treats in his pocket for them.
In April 2008, Kerry was diagnosed with cancer. He fought a courageous battle with hopes he would beat it, however God had different plans for Kerry as he needed a great truck driver in Heaven.
Kerry is survived by his parents, two sisters Kathy (Dave) Hausmann and Donna (Mark) Leibrich. Nephews DJ (Aimee) Hausmann, Darin (Molly) Hausmann, Eric Leibrich and Niece Ashley Leibrich. Great niece Hailey Hausmann and great nephew Riley Hausmann. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Henry and Lillian Schroeder and Andrew and Edna Klein.
