Kay Elizabeth Fischer was born March 27, 1935 at Gregory, South Dakota to Eugene and Alice (Wood) Smith and she died September 3, 2026 at the Parkside Manor Nursing Home in Stuart, Nebraska at the age of 91.
Kay was raised on her mother's ranch near Burton, Nebraska and she graduated from Springview High School in 1952. She was united in marriage to Orion Fischer in May of 1954 and to this union two sons, David and Tom, were born. She was a life long homemaker, farmer and rancher on the family farm located northwest of Naper, Nebraska.
Kay’s passions were cooking, baking, quilting, refinishing furniture, gardening and raising beautiful flowers. Her desserts were enjoyed and appreciated by many people. Kay enjoyed working in the hay fields, and was still raking hay at the age of 90. She also did bookkeeping for her brother-in-law’s feedyard in Ainsworth, Nebraska for over 20 years.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Orion, her mother Alice, a sister JoAnn and a brother Donald.
Kay is survived by her two sons: David of Naper, Nebraska and Tom (Lisa) of Hickman, Nebraska; two grandsons: Matthew (Emma) and Jacob; two great-granddaughters: Stella and Marlee; a sister, Mary Moody of Ainsworth, Nebraska and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private family services will be held.
