Katherine Ann Gregoire was born May 25, 1959 at Platte, South Dakota to Terry and Shirley (Meyer) Gregoire and she died December 17, 2007 at the Platte Health Center in Platte, South Dakota at the age of 48 years.

Kathy was baptized and took her first communion at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Fairfax in 1966. She attended Fairfax Elementary School for four years before moving with her family to Herrick, South Dakota. She attended school in Burke until her senior year when she moved back to Fairfax and finished her schooling, graduating from Fairfax High School in 1977. She then attended Stewarts School of Hair Styling in Sioux Falls, graduating in 1978.

Kathy enjoyed being outside, helping her dad with the chores, riding horses, swimming, fishing, hunting, cooking, being a good mother and housewife.

On October 13, 1979, Kathy was united in marriage to Craig Allen Franken at Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls and to this union one daughter was born, Candy Jo.

Kathy is survived by her parents, Terry and Shirley Gregoire of Bonesteel, SD; her brother, Victor Eugene and wife Jamie Gregoire of Las Vegas, NV; her daughter, Candy Jo Gambrill and husband Eric of Sioux Falls, SD; her granddaughter, Paige Elizabeth; her niece, Lindsey Marie Gregoire; two nephews, Tanner Eugene Gregoire and Brandon Halverson; and a special friend Ann and husband Bill Munce. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Fairfax, SD. Burial will be in the St. Anthonys Catholic Cemetery, Fairfax. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke.
