Obituary

Katie (Kate) Dorothea (Wilhelmsen) Heermann was born April 27, 1919 at Rise Denmark, to parents Pete and Sophie Wilhelmsen. Kate died on Aug 12, 2005 at Sierra Vista, Arizona. At the age of 86 years, 3 months, 15 days.

Kate was baptized in Rise Denmark and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Klugs school house in Jamison, Nebraska.

Kate came to the United States from Denmark at the age of 2 year with her parents. They resided in the Jamison, Nebr. Where Kate attended Spotted Tail School and Springview high school.

Kate was united in marriage to William A. Heermann on Feb 17, 1941 in Ainsworth Nebraska and to this union one daughter was born.

In 1949 they moved to Colorado while living in Brush, Kate worked for Bell Telephone Co, Walgreen and Rexall Drug stores. After living in Brush Colorado for 30 years, Bill and Kate decided to retired in Naper, Nebraska.

Kate was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jamison and a life member of VFW, ladies auxiliary post 9972 in Sierra Vista, Arizona.

In July 2002 Kate moved to Sierra Vista, AZ, to live with her daughter and son-in-Law.

Survivors include 1 daughter Joyce (Vincent) Mitchell of Sierra Vista, AZ; 2 Granddaughters, Ranata (Roger) Granzella of Avondale, AZ and Keta (Robert) Hyatt of Kailua, HI; 1 step-granddaughter, Angela (Steve) Cain of Sierra Vista, AZ; 2 great-granddaughters Kathryn and Leilani Hyatt, and 4 step- great-grandsons, Brian Granzella, Christopher, Tony, and Vince Cain; 2 sisters, Evelyn (Bob) Fiene of Mirabel WI; and Betty Fast of Winner, SD; 2 brothers, Pete (Jeanie) Wilhelmsen of Burke SD and Luther (Avis) Wilhelmsen of Burke, SD and many nieces and nephews.

Kate was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Kate enjoyed painting and visiting with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grand mother, and great grand mother and loved being around all the grand children and great grand children. Kate was so looking forward to the new addition to our family with the adoption of Olivia LaRee.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jamison, NE. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke, SD. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
