Obituary

June (Willoughby) Hoffman was born to George and Elizabeth (Powell) Willoughby June 21, 1915 at Mullen, South Dakota. There is not a town of that name now, but it was close to Lucas, South Dakota. June passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Avera Rosebud Country Care Center in Gregory at the age of 92 years.

June lived on a farm until her father passed away in April of 1921. Mother, Elizabeth and her three children Marie, June and Eugene then moved to Bonesteel, South Dakota, where June attended school through the 12th grade. She worked in the Martin Grady Store for four years. She married Rudy Hoffman February 14, 1934. They started farming south of St. Charles, and finally bought a farm south of Herrick, SD, where all of her six children were born. She was confirmed in St. Johns Lutheran Church in January of 1951.

June and Rudy retired from the farm in February of 1970 because of Rudys ill health and made their home in Herrick. 1982 was a very sad year for June- her only daughter Connie passed away May 29, 1982, her brother Eugene passed away November 11, 1982 and her husband Rudy who passed November 15, 1982 along with three brothers-in-law during a five month period.
