Joy worked alongside her family in the field, working livestock, and "doctoring" anyone or thing that needed it. Joy was a tremendous cook and Sunday family dinners were especially important to her and her family.
In 1992, Joy and Julius retired and moved to Naper. Julius passed away in 1999 leaving a hole in Joy's heart and life. In 2011, with the onset of dementia, Joy moved to California and later Arizona to be near her daughter Leanne and her family.
