Obituary

JoAnn Janousek was born May 5, 1938 at Lynch, Nebraska, the only child of Joe and Clara (Klundt) Ohri and she died at the Gregory Health Care Center in Gregory, South Dakota on November 21, 2005 at the age of 67 years.

JoAnn grew up in the Fairfax area and attended Fairfax Public School. On June 1, 1955, she was united in marriage to Louie Janousek of Fairfax and to this union were born three sons: Doug, Kevin and Kelly, and one daughter, Deb. In 1959, JoAnn, Louie and Doug moved to Sloan, Iowa where Louie managed an elevator until 1961. In these years Deb and Kevin were born. In 1961 they moved back to the Ohri Homestead farm nine miles east of Fairfax, until 1970. The last child, Kelly was born during this time. In 1970 they moved to the Joe Ohri farm, JoAnns home place, six miles east of Fairfax where she lived the remainder of her life.

JoAnn started life as an adult early. She lost her mom (Clara) when she was fourteen years old and took over the cooking, cleaning and milking cows while she attended school. She always, to this day, had a spotless house and was a terrific cook, no matter how many showed up for dinner.

JoAnn enjoyed gardening, loved flowers, playing cards with her friends and at the top of her list was her family and her church. She was instrumental in bringing a satellite health clinic to Fairfax and served on the Community Development Board. She was also a member of St. Anthonys Altar Society.

JoAnn is survived by her husband, Louie of Fairfax, SD; her three sons: Doug and wife Marilee of Fairfax, SD; Kevin and wife Shelley of Fairfax, SD; Kelly and wife Karin of Bonesteel, SD; her daughter Deb and husband Gary Voller of Trail City, SD; nine grandchildren: Dusty Janousek of Lincoln, NE; Joshua and Dillon Janousek of Fairfax, SD; Deryk Voller of Dickenson, ND; Brian Voller of Trail City, SD; Jason Janousek of Sioux Falls, SD; Jamie and Jordon Janousek of Fairfax, SD; and Kendra Janousek of Norfolk, NE; two great-grandchildren: Jacey Bailey and Caydence Janousek along with relatives and many friends. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 25, 2005 at 10:30 AM at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Fairfax. Burial will be in the St. Anthonys Catholic Cemetery, Fairfax. There will be a rosary on Thursday at 7:00 PM at the Church. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to both services at the church.
