Jeremy Carl Ekroth was born December 21, 1978 at Watertown, South Dakota. He was the first child of Abe and Linda (Gilbert) Ekroth. He died August 4, 2011 at Burke, South Dakota.
Jeremy grew up near Burke with his younger brother and sister. He attended school in Burke, graduating in 1997. Jeremy worked at Pats Food Town, formerly Emmitt's Grocery, beginning at the age of 14. When Pat's closed, he began working for Green's Grocery.
Jeremy had a passion for playing guitar and the music of the band Metallica. Superman was his hero, and had been since his childhood. He knew nearly everyone of every age in the local area. He enjoyed hanging out and visiting with friends.
Jeremy is survived by his mother, Linda Osnes of Burke, South Dakota; his father, Abe Ekroth of Winner, South Dakota; his brother, Justin, his sister, Amy and his grandmother, Viola Gilbert all of Burke, South Dakota; his close friend, Doug Bradley of Burke, South Dakota and numerous friends and relatives.
Jeremy was preceded in death by his grandfathers: Alvin Ekroth and Lloyd Gilbert; his grandmother, Wanda Ekroth; his aunt, Nancy Ekroth; his uncles, Dennis Audiss and Roger Monroe; and his cousin, Bryan Ekroth.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Graceland Cemetery in Burke.
